So, why does Poke Sallet, this invasive, toxic, and yet lovely weed, get its own festival?

It’s tender, green shoots were some of the first signs of life that came up in Spring. This stout plant was a symbol of hope & resourcefulness for people who endured a hard life, resolving to persevere and regain strength to move forward. As long-time citizens or new residents of Jackson County, let’s be reminded of this symbol as we work together as one community for the betterment of our current life & the future of the next generation.
