Halle submitted her artwork for the cover after friends & family kept “poking” at her to do it. She began doing research to study the poke sallet plant. She looked at different lettering styles & fonts to see what best resembled the leaves of the plant itself. Halle’s artwork was ultimately chosen because her drawing best depicted the symbolic roots of the poke sallet plant in the community. As a child, Halle always enjoyed the “find the object” games so her idea to camouflage a keyword in her drawing was a fun way for her to create something interactive for her viewers. 

Halle is Self taught artist, taking a few art classes in early education. Her favorite types of art include pencil, charcoal & graphite. She credits her Grandmother, who she fondly calls “Ma”, for her constant encouragement to make art. Ma was also proficient in drawing & Halle enjoyed seeing her Grandmother’s drawings of dresses. 

In addition to our Magazine cover, Halle has become an in-demand artist for her logo artwork as well. Her most recent & notable project has been for Gainesboro’s newest coffee shop, Nostalgic Coffee Cafe. 

For now, her artwork serves as a creative outlet but as positive feedback grows she is open to pursuing art as more than just a hobby. Halle believes if God has purpose for her art He will bring about opportunities. So, we will see what God has in store for this talented artist.
