The Poke Sallet Festival was originally the vision of the Jackson County Jaycees and has been hosted by various nonprofit organizations over the years, including the American Legion, the Chamber of Commerce, the Jackson County Rescue Squad, and others. Due to the frequent changes in hosting organizations, we lacked a centralized system to maintain records and ensure the event's consistency and success annually.
In 2022, when the American Legion chose to retire from hosting the event, a group of locals decided to establish a new nonprofit to take over the festival (and other community events) moving forward. This ensures the festival's records, financials, and integrity will be preserved long after these individuals have moved on. They grew up attending the festival, cherishing the memories of competing in contests, enjoying funnel cakes, riding carnival rides, and listening to great local music. We want to ensure that this tradition remains alive for future generations.
All revenue from events hosted by the Poke Sallet Foundation stays within the foundation, funding scholarships, future events, and promoting our community. Any additional funds will support other local nonprofits.
