So, why does Poke Sallet, this invasive, toxic and yet lovely weed get it’s own festival? It’s tender, green shoots were some of the first signs of life that came up in Spring. This stout plant was a symbol of hope & resourcefulness for people who endured a hard life, resolving to persevere and regain strength to move forward. As long time citizens or new residents of Jackson County, let’s be reminded of this symbol as we work together as one community for the betterment of our current life & the future of the next generation. The Poke Sallet Foundation is committed to supporting Jackson County through community-focused events, providing resources & funding to meet local needs, preserving local history and promoting economic growth.
